Critics Consensus

One Piece season two offers higher stakes, a larger scope, and plenty of adventure without buckling under the pressure of being a near perfect live-action adaptation.

In its second season, the series continues to embrace theatricality and artifice on a grand scale. Go to Full Review

Even after an excellent first season, One Piece Season 2 feels like a wildly impressive level-up in many respects. Go to Full Review

Owens, Tracz, and the writers continue to capture the secret sauce of this work, one where literal cartoon characters are regularly granted unexpected depth. Go to Full Review

Despite featuring one of the least compelling arcs in the entire original manga, the adaptation handled it brilliantly. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

This adaptation can be described as a great victory: it translates and condenses a vast fantasy world without losing sight of what makes the series so special. Go to Full Review

Season two is a masterclass in adaptation, far surpassing the first! I loved how they fully leaned into the weirdness of the world while delivering massive emotional payoffs for every character. It’s heartfelt, inspiring, and a perfect adaptation. Go to Full Review

Jovan A @RT79067680 10h I specifically opened an account with rotten tomatoes to write this review! Go watch this show NOW! Especially if the anime has too much filler or anime isn't for you, this is the perfect gateway! Please watch it ASAP to make sure this show continues. The second season is so much tighter and better than the first season! See more Thomas D @RT50944971 1d Even better than season 1! The writters got very creative with some great references and omages while keeping the story honest and true to the Manga. Animation was excellent the pacing was perfect. All around huge fan of season 2! See more tiff T @RT06601173 Apr 13 One Piece Season 2 just feels more exciting, like everything got better, and I was honestly hooked the whole time and ended up loving the characters even more. See more Sara A. @RT04878360 Apr 12 I love that they keep true to the characters but tone it down so it isn't too ridiculous. I also love that the characters come off realistic with the casualness, with their comments (funny innuendos), gestures (like flipping people off which makes me laugh), and so much more. It's nice that it is fast paced and not drawn out. Still cheesy but for this anime/manga, it's an amazing job. See more NerdCall T @nerdcall Apr 9 An adaptation that thrives by embracing the absurd. The second season of One Piece arrives without needing to prove anything, and that makes all the difference. With its tone already established, the series simply embraces its own craziness and runs with it. And it works. It’s over-the-top, caricatured, sometimes even a little silly… but that’s also exactly what gives the whole thing its identity. The world expands, the crew grows, and the charisma continues to hold it all together with impressive ease. Live-action doesn’t always manage to capture the energy of the fights or the visual absurdity, but when it gets it right, it gets it right beautifully. In the end, it’s the kind of series that doesn’t try to convince anyone. Either you hop on board, or you’ve been left behind a long time ago. And honestly? That’s totally fine.
