Caroline Siede The Daily Beast For fans of classic romance tropes, it’s a delight to see two very different storylines served up in one sumptuous period piece. Whether you like earnest, sexy young love or erudite, sexy marital love, there’s something here for everyone. Aug 14, 2025 Full Review Mary McNamara Los Angeles Times Outlander is a romance to be sure — the fate of Claire and Jamie, together and separately, propels the emotional connection. But it is also about the realities, and potential responsibilities, of moving through time. Aug 12, 2025 Full Review Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter Richly imagined, audaciously epic and, above all, unabashedly and deliriously romantic, it casts a spell that lingers long after the credits have rolled. Aug 11, 2025 Full Review Joyce Slaton Common Sense Media With the same tripping-through-time setup and focus on epic romance in times of political unease and war as Outlander, this series is a worthy follow-up. Aug 15, 2025 Full Review Susan Granger SSG Syndicate In addition to the backstories of Jamie and Claire, the plot cleverly captures the formidable dilemmas faced by women trapped in patriarchal societies and - on a deeper psychological level - feeds into a natural curiosity about who one's parents are/were. Rated: 8/10 Aug 14, 2025 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Outlander: Blood Of My Blood certainly has the potential to be as romantic and adventurous as the original series. Cozy M As a huge Outlander fan I was hoping to enjoy this series. But alas it is NOT written by the author of the original book series Diana Gabaldon and it shows. The plot of much of it is almost identical to the original Outlander. Can't buy into the story especially about Claire's parents. Not sure if I will continue watching. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/18/25 Full Review Austin F I love this new show, it exceeded my expectations. The casting is spot on, the chemistry between the leads amplifies their longing for each other. The writing delivers lines that are poetic and endearing, delivered by talented actors. Especially drawn to Ellen, another strong woman in the OL universe. And both male leads are quite attractive to the largely female audience. Looking forward to Diana’s prequel book, in what she has said will be a trilogy I think! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/16/25 Full Review Francine E I had hoped for the best, but it is really very bad. The young actor who plays Dougal as a young man is the only bright spot. I can really see him turning into the fearsome war chief. The actor who plays young Collum is too wishy-washy. As he is written, he could never have become the canny old laird. what is not believable is the romance between Ellen and Brian or between Julia and Henry. The fiery passion just isn’t there as it was with Claire and Jamie in Outlander, Seasons 1 & 2. The dialogue frequently parrots what we heard in Outlander. Do the numbies who gave this a good review really think everyone in the Fraser and Mackenzie families say that chickens are very poor company?Julia and Henry adapt way too quickly to life in the 18th century. Worst of all is the soundtrack. Bear has certainly lost his touch! I never thought this would happen! BOMB is a crashing bore. I’m moving on to other historical films and shows, and to seeing the excellent work being done by the actors post-Outlander. Rik Rankin is truly excellent as Rebus. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/16/25 Full Review Michael N It lacks so much of what original outlander portrayed. Julia doesn’t seem surprised whatsoever to have traveled 200 years into the past and her husband is off making business deals instead of doing anything possible to find her. The show is missing so much and just comes across generic compared to outlander. They could have done so much better. Well hopefully the final season of outlander won’t be a let down. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/15/25 Full Review Catherine S A lush and exquisite romantic story Heartache and undeniable sexual chemistry Oh and the casting is spot on ! we went to the opening night at the cinema and it was beautiful on the big screen Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review Peter G Great show! I just love it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/10/25 Full Review Read all reviews
