J. Kelly Nestruck Globe and Mail To be fair, The Sticky is very clear it isn’t aiming to tell a real story... But that’s not really an excuse for the lack of authenticity or even understanding of the setting. Dec 18, 2024 Full Review David Bianculli NPR Margo Martindale, who was so enjoyable to watch on both "Justified" and "The Americans," has a blast with this leading role. Dec 16, 2024 Full Review Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter Both too much and not enough, The Sticky at least deserves credit for moving fast and giving Margo Martindale a well-deserved stint at the top of the call sheet. Dec 12, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider An intense and funny performance by Margo Martindale is the highlight of The Sticky, but the idea that this crazy heist story could go just about anywhere is what’s the most intriguing thing about it. Dec 21, 2024 Full Review Alison Gillmor Winnipeg Free Press This six-episode show is quick, quirky and packed with good performances, but it really taps into — syrup joke! — the tropes of Canadiana. Dec 20, 2024 Full Review Emiliano Basile EscribiendoCine Humor emerges from the darkest places, making this a comedy as twisted as the maple syrup heist that inspires it. Kara M The series excels in character development, but this strength is overshadowed by a fragmented narrative. The uneven pacing and disjointed story arcs prevent the plot from coming together cohesively. Although the cast delivers standout performances, the poorly structured script is underwhelming. Furthermore, the show seems devoid of any knowledgeable Canadian influence or cultural nuance. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/25 Full Review Marc P I loved it. It reminded me a bit of Ozark but simpler, less dark, and even funny a times. Others reviewers said it's like Fargo which I didn't see but now I want to. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review darrin s Sticky and sweet. Characters you can love and hate or love to hate. Who would have known maple syrup could be so crazy and fun. A bit quirky, a lot of laughs. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review Tito S This was fun! The acting was great. The storyline was a little far fetched but they did it in a way that kept you engaged and not having to suspend belief too much. 6 episodes felt just right unlike some shows that drag it out. It felt intentional. Some moral ambiguity with the characters, which kept you on your toes. I really enjoyed it! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/31/24 Full Review Hugh K Tv series at it's best. Margo was sensational as were the rest of the cast. Surprise visit by Jamie topped off the whole show like maple syrup on pancakes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Jacquie T Absolutely loved this series and can’t wait for Season 2. I have fun usually trying to guess What Happens Next but the script was way too clever and had me hooked to find out what the next drama or development would be. Well done.
