Critics Consensus

Wilderness often gets lost in its overabundance of revenge tropes, but its cutting twists may satisfy fans of sordid intrigue.

After "The Cry" I’m prepared to follow Jenna Coleman into whatever show she chooses, and not surprisingly she’s the best thing in this eventually flaccid marital revenge melodrama. Go to Full Review

But she [Coleman] keeps playing psychopaths because she’s good at it, violence gleaming in those enormous doll eyes (although the Welsh accent she attempts here is regrettable). Go to Full Review

The trip takes a few sharp turns, and each episode heightens the drama more and more. Go to Full Review

Wilderness reminds one of Gone Girl in more ways than one, but unfortunately, in spite of its longer runtime, the series is not able to sell the thrill and mayhem of a dysfunctional love story that was doomed from the start. Go to Full Review

Is Wilderness worth watching? Yes, it's a fast-paced, nuanced look at cheating and the breakdown of a relationship, sprinkled in with some stunning scenery and occasional jaw-dropping shock plot twists. Go to Full Review

So Yong Kim directs all six episodes of the series with a keen, delicate eye for visuals. Wilderness arguably works better when it focuses on the revenge-fantasy elements of the story but loses its way towards the end. Go to Full Review

Lorenzo C Jan 17 It started off really good and interesting but I feel like they didn’t know what to give us at the end lol it was bad tbh. It became about women being victims (?) anyway, I would not recommend. See more Tamsin R 12/16/2024 Jenna Coleman was good and worth watching til the end, but the story fizzled out for me halfway through. See more Kyle W 12/10/2024 Jenna Coleman is always worth a watch, but not sure of the dynamic between these two. See more Jason P @clift 06/09/2024 Not a bad show. The acting is good and the story keeps you engaged. Should be higher than a 60 I’d say. In the 75+ range See more Kristina R 02/12/2024 Started off strong and intriguing, and then sort of fell off a cliff around episode 3. Solid performance by Jenna Coleman, but can't think of a less likeable character in recent memory than the husband. Cringe-inducing ending. See more Sunday Night Streaming o 02/06/2024 Wilderness Season 1 - 6.7 - Overall this is a very entertaining watch. The storyline is great dealing with a very manipulating narcissist, and living out a fantasy of revenge. Liv's quest for vengeance takes breakup aftermaths to a whole new level, unraveling a web of twists and relatable dilemmas. Jenna Coleman really delivers here, with anger just screaming out of her doll eyes. The casting was on point, especially with Ashley Benson from Pretty Little Liars adding an extra layer of allure. From the very first episode, the plot keeps you guessing, leaving you in a perpetual state of uncertainty. And as the final credits roll, you're left pondering over who the true victim in this complex tale really is. However, amidst the gripping drama, one can't help but raise an eyebrow at the jaw-dropping apartments. As a New Yorker myself, Liv and Will's place seemed like a luxurious dream on a single salary, and then you see Cara's and you just realize they just gave them unrealistic apartments. I am not in the hospitality industry, but I know for a fact those places were ridiculous.. Overall it's a good binge and a quick 6 episodes to pass by. Not sure after that ending if there will be another season, at least with this cast, but ! would be intrigued and tune in if there was. The intro song really tells it all for the show, "Look what you made me do". Official sundaynightstreaming rating of 6.7 See more Read all reviews
