Television director Asaad Kelada has worked on some of the most popular sitcoms begining in the 1970s. He studied drama in school, eventually moving to the United States in 1961 to major in directing at the Yale University School of Drama. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Kelada worked as a drama instructor while also directing several plays. In the late 1970s he got his first shot at directing television sitcoms--"Mary Tyler Moore" spinoffs "Rhoda" and "Phyllis." From there on he continued to steadily direct in the sitcom format. Kelada is responsible for directing 15 episodes of the showbiz sitcom "WKRP in Cincinnati," 77 episodes of the family series "The Facts of Life," and 117 episodes of the hit "Who's the Boss?" among other numerous credits during the 1980s. In the 1990s and 2000s, Kelada's most notable works included the relationship comedies"Dharma & Greg," "Everybody Loves Raymond," and the popular series "Two and a Half Men." In 2009, Kelada directed an episode of "The Office," proving a facility with the new world of single-camera sitcoms.
