Boris Ler
Actor Boris Ler is an actor who was little known outside his native Bosnia Herzogovina until the success of the film "Circus Columbia," an international breakthrough role for the young performer. Born in Sarajevo, Ler first appeared onscreen in television roles and short films. He starred in the 2008 family drama "Rolo Koster" and had a guest role on the popular comedy "Lud, zbunjen, normalan." He also made his film debut that year co-starring in the short dramatic film "Alena's Journey." The next year he starred in the war-themed short "Waiting" and the drama "Museum of Broken Relationships," but his career wouldn't really take flight until 2010. Cast as Martin, the estranged son of the main character Divko (Miki Manojlovic), his role in "Circus Columbia" from director Danis Tanovic made him a star. Set in Yugoslavia before the outbreak of the devastating inter-ethic war that followed the country's break-up, the film deals with a successful emigré who returns home to get re-acquainted with his son and his country. The film was Bosnia's selection for the Academy Awards, although it was not ultimately chosen. In 2011 Ler appeared in the controversial Angelina Jolie-directed film "In the Land of Blood and Honey" in a small role.
