Geordie Gray The Australian Dec 15
The whole thing is so outrageously assured – clever but unshowy dialogue, confident visual language. And that’s before you even get to the stonking performances from its leads... Go to Full Review

My struggle with this was that it felt very, very, very familiar to me. Go to Full Review

The twists can be pulpy and a little melodramatic, but you’ll never tire of watching Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys face off against each other. Go to Full Review

At once a meditation on grief, a crime drama and a character study of two very distinct and full-rounded personalities, this hooks you early and might just be one of Netflix’s most binge-worthy offerings in years. Go to Full Review

Tight and twisty, The Beast In me is likely enough to satisfy your appetite, buoyed by demanding and exemplary performances from Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. Go to Full Review

Joseph L. @Josemite 4d Meh. There are heartfelt moments and emotional pacing at points that make this show have some depth, but overall it's enjoyable only to an extent. Could of been a few episodes shorter. See more Pooran S @Pooran Mar 12 A moody, astute , underplayed mystery series that shines because of it's tight writing & run-time & some incandescent performances by the lead stars. The mystery mid-way or thereabouts is exposed but instead of tapering off, the pace & suspense picks up with the back story after that , which is commendable. A chilling, nuanced performance by Matthew Rhys is well supported by actors Jonathan Banks as his father, David Lyons as agent Abbott, Brittany Snow as his 2nd wife Nina,Tim Guinee as uncle Rick & Claire Danes as Agatha Wiggs. I write Ms. Dane's name last as felt her acting to be repetitive & character too emotional for my liking . Watch it for it's superior writing, deft direction & for Matthew Rhys's magnetic performance. See more David F @dfulmer Mar 7 It’s a slick thriller with a lot of twists and good acting. Can be confusing, though, and it is very dark, perhaps too dark. See more Jamie H @Jamieelle2000 Feb 23 It was ok. Claire Danes was great in the role but all a bit predictable. Nothing new here. See more Jacob H. @jhubik Feb 16 The acting was top notch. The story was somewhat predictable. See more Jin I @BirdOfLetters Feb 6 I’ll stop watching The Beast in Me the second I find another Matthew Rhys vehicle. He is compelling as an uneasy, tightly wound presence, but the show keeps making college-film-project choices. Cringe #1 (Ep 2): the laptop photo setup that visually "merges" the leads, like the show is screaming symbolism. Cringe #2 (Ep 3): the download stuck at 99% as a bargain-bin tension button. Cringe #3 (Ep 4): Aggie opening with a Freud quote, then delivering faux-deep voiceover that sounds less like a Pulitzer winner and more like a smart teenager performing intelligence. Add the juvenile romanticism on top, and Rhys is carrying far more than the writing deserves. See more Read all reviews
