The grandson of a famous vaudeville actor, Brooke McCarter was born in Philadelphia, PA. McCarter began his career as a model, represented by the prestigious Ford agency. He was discovered after winning a talent search contest after graduating from college. He began booking jobs quickly, doing campaigns for such companies as JC Penney and Levi's. While in New York McCarter studied acting under legendary coach Stella Adler. McCarter was intent on pursuing acting and decamped for Los Angeles after completing his education in New York. He booked several commercials early in his career for projects like Chevrolet, Miller and Pepsi. McCarter's first onscreen role in a feature film came in 1986 when he co-starred in the movie "Thrashin'" in the role of Tyler. The movie became a cult classic and launched the careers of skateboarder Tony Hawk, actor Corey Haim and the band The Red Hot Chili Peppers. McCarter next appeared in a key supporting role in the now-classic vampire film "The Lost Boys" (1987). In the late 90s, McCarter paused his career in entertainment to focus on ventures in business and telecommunications. In 2009 he appeared in another cult horror film "Uh-Oh Show." McCarter died in 2015 in Tampa FL from complications relating to a liver condition.
