Chris Carey
British character actor Chris Carey originally trained to become a professional ballet dancer but gave it up to pursue a career in film and television. He moved from England to Los Angeles in 1955 and spent several years studying drama before making his acting debut as a sailor in the short musical film "Music of Williamsburg." By the end of the 1960s Carey had become a familiar face on primetime TV; he appeared in small but memorable roles in everything from popular Westerns like "The Big Valley" and "The Road West" to spy serials like "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.." From 1967 to 1968 Carey portrayed Goniff, a cocky English thief, on "Garrison's Gorillas," a weekly adventure series centered on the misadventures of four ex-cons recruited into military service during World War II. He worked steadily through the '70s, scoring supporting roles on shows like "Police Story," an anthology show that revolved around officers in the Los Angeles Police Department, and the hugely popular detective series "The Rockford Files" while directing several documentaries for Australian television. After transitioning to film in the '80s, Carey landed one of his most memorable roles when he was cast as the wizened King Richard in the Arthurian fantasy "The Sword in the Stone."
