Birthday: Apr 2, 1986

Birthplace: Perryville, Missouri, USA

Chris Janson got his start in country music shortly after high school, when he moved from his hometown of Perryville, Missouri, to Nashville, Tennessee, and poured his energy into songwriting. His collaborations included co-writing songs for such country musicians as Holly Williams, Justin Moore, Tim McGraw and Hank Williams, Jr. Janson's debut single, "Til a Woman Comes Along," released in April 2010 to positive reviews. After a series of short-lived signings with several record labels, Janson took a different approach to distribution when he independently released the single "Buy Me a Boat" on iTunes in early 2015. Originally targeted to his existing fanbase, the blue-collar ballad found success with a wide audience, topping iTunes' country music chart and bringing a new wave of attention from country fans and industry mainstays, including Toby Keith. Janson signed with Warner Bros. Records Nashville and recorded his debut studio album, titled after his hit single, and released it later the same year. Janson continued to co-write music for other artists. He considered the songwriting process paramount over performance and infused his songs with subjects that he found personally meaningful. Consequently, he preferred to write or co-write all of his own songs. He occasionally co-wrote songs with his wife, Kelly Lynn, whom he married on Independence Day, 2010.
