Desiree Ross was an American actress who started out in short films before making a name for herself on television, with a little help from Oprah Winfrey. Born on May 27, 1999, in Columbia, SC, Ross began her acting career in 2012, at the age of 13. She started out by appearing in a number of short films, including "Park Bench" (2012), "Crossing the River" (2012), and "Old Souls" (2013). However, Ross got her big break when she was cast in the made for TV holiday movie "A Country Christmas Story" (Lifetime, 2013) alongside Dolly Parton, Mary Kay Place, and Megyn Price. She scored her first recurring role next year as part of the post-apocalyptic drama series "Falling Skies" (TNT, 2011-15). After making appearances in the unsold pilot "Chevy" (ABC, 2015) and the film "Secrets in the Fall" (2015), Ross caught the eye of Oprah Winfrey, and she was cast as Sophia Greenleaf on the religion-based family drama "Greenleaf" (OWN, 2016-).
