G. Gordon Liddy was the son of a lawyer and eventually became a prosecutor himself. After serving in the army, Liddy graduated from law school and began his FBI career under J. Edgar Hoover. After capturing a ten most wanted fugitive, he became the youngest supervisor in the FBI. Liddy resigned from Hoover's staff in 1962 and went into private practice and dabbled in politics. After serving several positions in the Nixon administration, Liddy was selected to be part of a group created to counter information leaks to the press. Liddy was the leader of what became known as the Watergate scandal. Liddy was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but was released after serving only four and a half years. G. Gordon Liddy died on March 30, 2021 in Mount Vernon, VA at the age of 90.
