George Lessey
George Lessey was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Lessey began his acting career appearing in various films, such as "A Divorce of Convenience" (1921), "The Silent Command" (1923) and "Durand of the Bad Lands" (1925) with Buck Jones. He also appeared in "The Fool" (1925), "White Thunder" (1925) and "Dr. Kildare's Strange Case" (1940). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties, appearing in the Spencer Tracy biopic drama "Edison, the Man" (1940), the drama "Sky Murder" (1940) with Walter Pidgeon and the comedy "Go West" (1940) with Groucho Marx. He also appeared in the Mickey Rooney musical comedy "Strike Up the Band" (1940). In the latter half of his career, he tackled roles in the Henry Fonda dramatic comedy "Rings on Her Fingers" (1942), "The Pride of the Yankees" (1942) and "Old Acquaintance" (1943). He also appeared in the Marsha Hunt drama "None Shall Escape" (1944) and the Sidney Toler mystery "Charlie Chan in the Secret Service" (1944). Lessey more recently acted in the musical "Sweet and Low Down" (1944) with Benny Goodman. Lessey passed away in June 1947 at the age of 68.
