George McCowan

Born and raised in Canada, George McCowan moved to the United States at a young age and became a well-known television director of such shows as "Charlie's Angels" and "The Mod Squad." He made his television directorial debut on the 1962 series "Playdate," and from 1963 to 1965 he directed over 35 episodes of the Canadian series "The Forest Rangers." He worked steadily in Canada through the '60s and by 1967 he had moved to the United States, where he landed work directing such shows as "The F.B.I." and "Felony Squad." From 1968 to 1972 he worked on the cult undercover police drama "The Mod Squad," and later directed the private detective series "Cannon" and the short-lived "S.W.A.T.." In 1976 McCowan worked on two massively popular series; "Starsky and Hutch," about two wiseguy street cops, and "Charlie's Angels," which followed the adventures of three beautiful female private detectives. During the '80s he worked on numerous hit TV series, including "Fantasy Island" and "Hart to Hart." From 1981 to 1987 he returned to Canada to direct the supernatural mystery series "Seeing Things."
