Diagnosed with a terminal illness, Sally Dillman (Elizabeth Ashley) resolves to leave Idaho for San Francisco and try to enjoy what time she has left. Fearful of dying a painful death, she also decides to hire a contract killer to do her in when the time is right. But, when a second opinion about her condition proves that Sally isn't going to die, she's unable to cancel the hit. Terrified, she enlists the help of policeman Sgt.
