George McGovern was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Gaylord Nelson: A Profile" (1987-88), "Campaign: The Prime-time President" (PBS, 1988-89) and "Firing Line Special Debate (09/07/88)" (PBS, 1988-89). He also appeared in "Firing Line Special Debate (10/08/88)" (PBS, 1988-89) and "Unauthorized Biography: Jane Fonda" (1988-89). In the beginning of his Hollywood career, McGovern acted in films like "The Candidate" (1972) with Robert Redford. He also worked in television around this time, including a part on "America's Century" (PBS, 1989-1990). Additionally, he later acted in the George Stephanopoulos documentary "Anthem" (1997). He also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Firing Line Special Debate (09/13/89)" (1989-1990), "Firing Line Special Debate (09/10/90)" (PBS, 1990-91) and "Robert F. Kennedy: The Man, the Myth and the Memories" (NBC, 1992-93). He also appeared in "The U.S. vs. John Lennon" (2006). Additionally, he could be seen on a variety of television specials like "Robert F Kennedy: A Memoir" (1997-98) and "Shirley MacLaine: This Time Around" (1999-2000). McGovern last appeared on the documentary "Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson" (2008) with Hunter S Thompson. McGovern passed away in October 2012 at the age of 90.
