Gilles Segal was a prolific actor who created a name for himself largely on the big screen. Segal kickstarted his acting career in various films such as the Melina Mercouri crime adaptation "Topkapi" (1964), the Anjelica Huston dramatic adaptation "A Walk With Love and Death" (1969) and "The Madwoman of Chaillot" (1969) with Katharine Hepburn. He also appeared in "Lea, L'Hiver" (1970), "The Confession" (1970) and the Jean-Louis Trintignant action movie "Sans Mobile Apparent" (1971). His film career continued throughout the seventies in productions like the Catherine Jordan drama "Le Mariage a la Mode" (1973), the comedy "Ras le Bol" (1973) with Xavier Gelin and "Les Fleurs Du Miel" (1975). He also appeared in "Les Fougeres Bleues" (1977), "L' Ombre et la nuit" (1978) and the romance "Mon premier amour" (1978) with Anouk Aimée. Toward the end of his career, he tackled roles in "Ils appellent ca un Accident" (1981) with Nathalie Delon, the Martin Sheen drama "Enigma" (1983) and the Marie-Christine Barrault drama "Le Jupon rouge" (1987). He also appeared in the suspenseful adaptation "Black Light" (1994) with Patrick Poivey and "En Ce Temps-La, L'Amour..." (2004). He also was featured in the TV movie "Nazi Hunter: The Beate Klarsfeld Story" (ABC, 1986-87). Most recently, Segal acted in the dramatic adaptation "Une exécution ordinaire" (2010) with André Dussollier.
