I. King Jordan
I. King Jordan was born on June 16, 1943. While serving in the U.S. Navy, Jordan was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him profoundly deaf at age 21. In 1988, Jordan became the first deaf president of Gallaudet University, the world's only university with all of its programs and services designed specifically for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. He appeared in the TV Movie "Bridge to Silence" (CBS, 1991).
