Birthday: Jun 14, 1940

Birthplace: Los Angeles, California, USA

The son of actors, Jack Bannon is best-remembered for his work in the television drama "Lou Grant," but he has also appeared in numerous comedies and feature films. His early work included pulling double duty as both performer and dialogue coach in the shows "Petticoat Junction" and "Green Acres," which was followed by small parts in "The Beverly Hillbillies," among other programs. During the '70s, Bannon also appeared in crime dramas "Kojak" and "Mannix." His transition from comedies to more weighty fare was helped by appearing in Arthur Penn's 1970 film "Little Big Man," and completed with the part of Assistant City Editor Art Donovan, which he played for the entirety of "Lou Grant"'s run. Following "Lou Grant," the '80s brought the occasional comedic role, but for the most part, Bannon became a familiar face in dramas and crime shows, landing recurring parts in "Trauma Center," "Knots Landing," "St. Elsewhere," and "Hunter." He also appeared in multiple episodes of the long-running soap opera "Santa Barbara" as the character Willoughby.
