James Tinling

James Tinling always looked at the world in a creative way, and it transferred to his impeccable eye as a director. Tinling started off his entertainment career directing independent films like "Words and Music" (1929), "The Flood" (1931) and the western "The Last Trail" (1933) with George O'Brien. He also appeared in "Charlie Chan in Shanghai" (1935). He continued to work in film in the thirties, directing motion pictures like "Back to Nature" (1936), "Educating Father" (1936) and "Angel's Holiday" (1937). He also appeared in "Sing and Be Happy" (1937) with Tony Martin. Nearing the end of his career, Tinling directed "Change of Heart" (1938), the mystery "Mr. Moto's Gamble" (1938) with Peter Lorre and "Passport Husband" (1938). He also appeared in "Boy Friend" (1939). Tinling last directed "Cosmo Jones in Crime Smasher" (1943). Tinling passed away in May 1967 at the age of 78.
