Jeffrey Richman broke into Hollywood as a minor TV actor, and wasted no time becoming a successful producer and writer of award-winning shows like "Frasier" and "Desperate Housewives." His early acting roles were mostly in forgettable TV movies and quickly canceled series, and by the mid '80s he was working as a writer-for-hire on "The Jeffersons," an "All in the Family" spin-off that followed the lives of African-American upper-middle-class business owner George Jefferson (Sherman Hemsley) and his long-suffering wife, Louise (Isabel Sanford). He next served as a staff writer on "Wings," a sitcom about two brothers who run a Cape Cod-based charter airline, and branched out by producing over 50 episodes of the low-rated but popular show. Richman, who met Kelsey Grammer while guest-starring on "Cheers," wrote multiple episodes of the critically acclaimed "Frasier," centered on Grammer's "Cheers" character, the neurotic psychiatrist Frasier Crane, and served as a main producer on the show from 1997 to '04. In addition to his writing work on the primetime special "Streisand: Live in Concert," Richman has written and produced numerous episodes of "Stark Raving Mad," starring "Wings" actor Tony Shalhoub, and worked on Grammer's post-"Frasier" series, "Back to You." He has since served as producer on the darkly humorous "Desperate Housewives" and written several episodes of the surprise hit series "Modern Family."
