John Whitney's acting talents were showcased on the big screen many times throughout the course of his Hollywood career. Early on in his acting career, Whitney landed roles in various films, including the Cary Grant war "Destination Tokyo" (1944), the Andy Clyde western "Lumberjack" (1944) and the George Zucco mystery "Fog Island" (1945). He also appeared in the action flick "Objective Burma!" (1945) with Errol Flynn. His film career continued throughout the forties in productions like "The Affairs of Susan" (1945), "The Bachelor's Daughters" (1946) and the adventure "Calcutta" (1947) with Alan Ladd. He also appeared in "I Was a Male War Bride" (1949) with Cary Grant. In the fifties through the nineties, Whitney lent his talents to projects like "Appointment With Danger" with Alan Ladd (1951), "The Buttercup Chain" (1970) and "Pearl" (1978-79). His credits also expanded to "Antiques Roadshow" (PBS, 1996-). Whitney most recently acted in the Jean-Claude van Damme action movie "Knock Off" (1998).
