Jorge Bergoglio
Pope Francis was born on December 17, 1936 in Buenos Aires, Argentina as Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He became ordained as a Catholic priest in 1969 and in 2001, he was assigned a cardinal priest by Pope John Paul II. His film and television credits include "Stories of a Generation with Pope Francis" (Netflix, 2021) and "The Pope Answers" (Hulu, 2023). He died on April 21, 2025 in Casa Santa Marta, Vatican City, Italy. Among other things, he was known for his continued support of refugees, migrants and the impoverished.
