Katherine Dunham
Actress Katherine Dunham was known for her roles on the silver screen. Dunham began her acting career with roles in such films as the Bud Abbott comedy adventure "Pardon My Sarong" (1942), "Star Spangled Rhythm" (1942) and "Stormy Weather" (1943). She also appeared in the Yvonne De Carlo adventure "Casbah" (1948). In the fifties and the nineties, Dunham devoted her time to various credits, such as "Mambo" (1955), "Green Mansions" (1959) starring Audrey Hepburn and "The Kennedy Center Honors: A Celebration of the Performing Arts" (CBS, 1988-89). She also worked on "The 23rd Annual NAACP Image Awards" (NBC, 1990-91). Dunham last appeared in "Oprah Winfrey's Legends' Ball" (ABC, 2005-06). Dunham passed away in May 2006 at the age of 97.
