Kyle McCulloch
Kyle McCulloch was an award-winning producer, writer, and sometime voice actor for the popular push-it-to-the-limit animated program "South Park" for 10 years. Hailing from Winnipeg, Canada, he helped supply many of the show's frequent jokes that came at the expense of that country. He is also the co-creator, along with Pam Brady, of the controversial online cartoon series "Mr. Wong," and worked with Brady again as a voice actor for the short-lived animated show "Neighbors from Hell." Filmgoers with a taste for the outré may know him best, though, for his early acting work with fellow-Winnipeg resident Guy Maddin, the distinctive director of a number of blackly comedic melodramas stylistically influenced by silent films and early talkies. In "Tales from the Gimli Hospital," an increasingly horrific deadpan comedy set during a smallpox epidemic, he played Einar the Lonely, a patient at the hospital who competes with another patient for the love of several comely nurses. He played another lovesick, injured character in the delirious "Archangel," a film set during World War I in an Arctic Russian village where everyone suffers from amnesia. And in "Careful," which takes place in an Alpine village where all the sexually repressed residents whisper for fear of triggering a catastrophic avalanche, he played the jealous butler Grigorss.
