Though best known for "The Bob Newhart Show," Larry Gelman has actually appeared on a variety of television programs, dating back to an episode of "Mission: Impossible" in 1966. That same year, he was featured in "I Dream of Jeannie," along with several episodes of "The Monkees" and the drama "Run For Your Life." Gelman's versatility has proven to be a boon; during the '70s, he had a recurring role in the sitcom version of "The Odd Couple," which led to the parts of Dr. Bernie Tupperman in "The Bob Newhart Show" and Hubie Binder in "Maude." He also appeared in a number of movies, including the 1976 X-rated version of "Alice in Wonderland," in which he portrayed the White Rabbit (and is credited as Jerry Spelman). Toward the end of the decade, Gelman landed a recurring spot on "Eight is Enough," and his single-episode appearance on "Barney Miller" led to an Emmy nomination in 1978. Throughout the '80s and '90s, he was featured in all manner of television programs ranging from crime dramas to comedies.
