Lauren Iungerich
Lauren Iungerich is an award-winning writer, director, producer, and showrunner. She created two of the biggest half-hour teen comedies in the last few decades, "Awkward." (MTV, 2011-15) and "On My Block" (Netflix, 2018-21). The New York Times is quoted as calling "Awkward." the "smartest, freshest, most moving sitcom of 2011." It also won the 2013 People's Choice Award for Favorite Cable Comedy. In 2020, Iungerich signed a second multi-year overall contract with Netflix. While at Netflix, Iungerich served as showrunner for the young adult series "On My Block" which she co-created with Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft. The series wrapped its 4th and final season in 2021. The coming-of-age story following four ethnically diverse young teens in inner city Los Angeles, has garnered praise for acknowledging the experiences and identities of groups who have traditionally been marginalized by society and underrepresented on screen. In 2018, the show was Netflix's most binge-watched series and Google's tenth most top trended search in all of television. The second season received a score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and won the Teen Choice Award for TV Breakout Show in 2018. Iungerich was also director, co-creator and runner of the pilot of the limited series "Boo, Bitch" (Netflix, 2022), starring Lana Condor. Recent credits include those for "Freeridge" (Netflix, 2023) the "On My Block" spin-off, in which she showran, executive produced and directed. In 2020, Time Magazine recognized "On My Block" as one of TV's Best Teen Dramas of All Time.
