Lester Allen was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Allen kickstarted his acting career in various films such as the Mae West musical comedy "The Heat's on" (1943), "The Dolly Sisters" (1945) and "The Great Flamarion" (1945) with Erich von Stroheim. He also appeared in the mystery "The Dark Mirror" (1946) with Olivia de Havilland. He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties and the seventies, appearing in "Fun on a Weekend" (1947), the Judy Garland adaptation "The Pirate" (1948) and "Ma and Pa Kettle" (1949). Allen also created music for the documentary "Diaries, Notes & Sketches - Volume 1, Reels 1-6: Lost Lost Lost" (1975) with Adolfas Mekas. Allen's music was also featured in the Jessica Tandy blockbuster dramatic adaptation "Driving Miss Daisy" (1989), the dramatic adaptation "The Cemetery Club" (1993) with Ellen Burstyn and the Diane Lane dramedy "A Walk on the Moon" (1999). His music was also featured in the Mercedes Ruehl drama "The Amati Girls" (2001). Allen's music was most recently featured in "Hitchcock" (2012) with Anthony Hopkins.
