Marcello Pagliero
In Italy from the age of seven, Pagliero began his film career dubbing voices onto English-language productions. He wrote his first screenplay in 1941 and directed his first film in 1943, but first received international attention for his acting, in Roberto Rossellini's "Rome, Open City" (1945). He later worked in France, notably as the director of the Sartre adaptation, "La P ... respectueuse" (1952), which he co-wrote with Alexandre Astruc.
