Marco D'Amore

Italian multi-hyphenate Marco D'Amore enjoyed success as both an actor on the international hit television series "Gomorrah" (Sky Italia, 2014- ) and as co-writer on several features in his native country. Born June 12, 1981 in Caserta, Italy, D'Amore's acting career began in his late teens with a production of "The Adventures of Pinocchio" by Teatro Uniti. After gaining his degree from the Paolo Grassi School of Dramatic Art in 2004, D'Amore reunited with Teatro Uniti's founder, actor Toni Servillo, and toured Europe for four years in a production of "La trilogia della villeggiatura." During this period, D'Amore also launched his own theater company, La Piccola Societa, with actor Francesco Ghiacco; the pair would collaborate on several short films, including "Gabiano con una sola B" (2007). Two years later, D'Amore began his feature film career with the comedy "Bets and Wedding Dresses" (2009), and would appear in minor or supporting roles in several subsequent films, including the crime drama "A Quiet Life" (2010) with Servillo and the Danish romantic comedy "Love is All You Need" (2012) with Pierce Brosnan. In 2014, D'Amore earned his breakout role as Ciro Di Marzio, the loyal second-in-command to a major Italian crime boss, on "Gomorrah." The critically acclaimed drama boosted D'Amore's profile and led to major roles in the Mob drama "Perez" (2014) and "Una posto sicuro," a family drama directed by and co-written with D'Amore, who played one of its leads.
