Mark A.Z. Dippe

Visual effects maestro Mark Dippe has helped create some of the most iconic images in cinematic history. Having gotten his start as a computer graphics animator at Industrial Light & Magic, Dippe's career began in earnest on the James Cameron deep sea epic, "The Abyss." Next up, Dippe lent his computer wizardry to Robert Zemeckis' blockbuster "Back to the Future II." He also teamed with "Die Hard" director John McTiernan for his submarine spectacular "The Hunt for Red October" shortly before graduating to Assistant Visual Effects Supervisor on Cameron's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." Dippe's next collaboration was a doozy: he joined Hollywood icon Steven Spielberg for his dino-sized adaptation of Michael Crichton's "Jurassic Park." Dippe went on to receive a full Visual Effects Supervisor credit on his next film, the Sean Connery-Wesley Snipes crime thriller, "Rising Sun," another Crichton adaptation. In 1997, Dippe made his directorial debut with the gritty comic book flick "Spawn." He returned to visual effects in 2006, with kiddie classics like "The Flintstones," and two direct-to-DVD "Doctor Doolittle" films.Since 2007, he has directed three computer-animated "Garfield" flicks, including "Garfield Gets Real." On the big screen, Dippe supervised the lo-fi scares in "Paranormal Activity 2" and "Paranormal Activity 3."
