Character actor Mark L. Taylor was a familiar presence in film and TV throughout the '90s, but his career began in the early '80s. Taylor appeared in numerous low-profile films and TV series before landing a recurring role as a young doctor on "House Calls," a medical series that revolved around the clandestine relationship between a surgeon and a hospital administrator. Taylor's biggest successes came in the late '80s and early '90s; he appeared as a flustered lab scientist in the sci-fi comedy "Innerspace," about a miniaturization experiment gone awry, and was cast as a doomed nature photographer in "Arachnophobia," a spider-horror film. After appearing in a small but memorable role as a fishing enthusiast in the teenage adventure/comedy "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids," Taylor landed the role of a harried hotel operator in the Pauly Shore comedy "Jury Duty." From 1995 to 1997, he starred in the television adaptation of "The Mask," later appearing as a shady doctor in the last season of the primetime soap opera "Melrose Place." He then portrayed a rival attorney on the David E. Kelly series "Boston Legal," and he wrote and directed the short film "Hooking Up." From 2007 to 2010, Taylor appeared as a forensic pathologist in the supernatural crime drama "Saving Grace," about a police detective who receives help and advice from an angel only she can see.
