Matt Brown

Born in 1971 in the Boston suburb of Brookline, Massachusetts, Matt Brown was determined to be a feature film director. He grew up in a musical family. His mother, aunt, and brother were all musicians, and his father dabbled. In 2000, Brown completed his first feature, the romantic comedy "Ropewalk." Although the film played a number of festivals and boasted a cast that included Peter Facinelli, Lena Heady, and Fred Ward, it never received a release in theaters or on video. In spite of the setback, Brown continued to work in film, producing the Academy Award-nominated short film "The Tonto Woman" (2007), and penning an unproduced biopic based on the life of Ian Fleming. Brown also wrote a biopic of Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and his relationship with Cambridge University professor G.H. Hardy as they unlocked some of the building blocks of modern mathematics. Getting that film made was nearly a decade-long process that Brown undertook with producers Ed Pressman, Sofia Sondervan and Jim Young. With the international success of the Stephen Hawking biopic "The Theory of Everything" (2014), Brown's film gained new life. The film, "The Man Who Knew Infinity" (2015), starring Dev Patel as Ramanujan and Jeremy Irons as Hardy, premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.
