Neil Thompson
Producer/writer Neil Thompson began his television career in the early 1980s writing two episodes (and working as a story editor) for the short-lived Jim Abrahams and Zucker brothers' sitcom "Police Squad!" and a few more than that for the successful 1950s nostalgiafest "Happy Days" during the last years of its long run. He also worked on "The Love Boat" in its last season afloat. His involvement with the NBC sitcom "Night Court"--starring illusionist/comic Harry Anderson as the judge presiding over a courtroom of misfits, crazies, and eccentrics--comparatively lasted a little longer. He wrote eight epidoses of "Night Court" and would work on the show as a supervising producer for 24 episodes and producer for 14 episodes. He also worked as a writer and executive producer on the sitcoms "Stand by Your Man" with Melissa Gilbert and Rosie O'Donnell and "Caroline in the City" starring Lea Thompson. He detoured from live-action to animation in 2000 working on the controversial program "God, the Devil and Bob." Thompson's best known work, though, was on the sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle" starring Frankie Muniz as an insufferable kid genius. He worked as a writer, consulting producer, and co-executive producer on the show and earned an Emmy nomination for his work.
