Below-average British geezer-crime flick with poor performances, direction and writing throughout.

Dg 2 brilliant great film thanks for that Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not sure what the critics were watching, but this is a worthwhile movie. Some great characters and a nice redemptive story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Hugely under rated and underappreciated film that is not trying to be glamourous or even technical but perhaps that's the exactly what some critics can't see beyond. This film is about real people, in a real situation and draws on real emotions that can commonly be felt by anyone. That what gives this film its attachment to an audience not blind to ignore this. Desperation, hate, greed, self-hatred, courage, desire, all intertwine in this films context and is delivered in a shocking and violent way. The film is entertaining and emotionally charged so should not be ignored. Perhaps more for the British audience however. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't know what all the bad reviews are about. This is a really good British film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Really enjoyable and easyish to understand film. Anna Smith Empire Magazine Overcomes its low budget suspenseful story, sympathetic leads and cracking '80s soundtrack. Rated: 3/5 Jan 16, 2009 Full Review David Jenkins Time Out It's a comically inept and unfocused piece of filmmaking, with 'This Is England'-lite period detail attained by what looks like a bring-your-own-costume policy. Rated: 1/6 Jan 16, 2009 Full Review Wendy Ide Times (UK) It's a dreadful piece of writing, compounded by an array of shockingly poor performances. Rated: 1/5 Jan 16, 2009 Full Review Ali Catterall Film4 It's surprisingly good: well written, nicely acted and beautifully scored. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 16, 2009 Full Review Tim Evans Sky Cinema Director Neil Thompson's literally hardhitting tale of a turning worm who transforms himself from meek factory drone to strutting nightclub doorman doesn't cast a light on anything. Jan 16, 2009 Full Review Chris Hicks Total Film Though predictable, the attention to period detail makes this a Brit-flick rather like its hero - an intelligent little scrapper.
