Born on February 5, 1992 in Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, known professionally as Neymar or Neymar Jr., is a Brazilian pro footballer. He is a forward for Brazil's national team as well as for French club Paris Saint-Germain. Neymar made his professional debut at the age of 17 with Santos Football Club, where he helped lead the team to two consecutive Campeonato Paulista championships, a Copa do Brasil, and the 2011 Copa Libertadores. The latter was Santos' first continental championship title since 1963. Neymar was named the South American Footballer of the Year in 2011 and 2012. He later joined Barcelona and helped lead the team to wins in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League in the 2014-2015 season, and to a third-place finish in the FIFA Ballon d'Or in 2015. Neymar is currently the joint-third highest goal-scorer for Brazil, and he was the leading goal-scorer at both the 2011 South American Youth Championship and the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. He was also awarded the Golden Ball as player of the tournament, and he captained Brazil when they won their first Olympic gold medal in men's football at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio.
