Richard Harrison
A stern and sly negotiator, Richard "The Old Man" Harrison became a household name as one of the stars of the hit reality series "Pawn Stars" (The History Channel, 2009- ). Richard Benjamin Harrison was born on March 4, 1941 in Lexington, NC. He attended Lexington High School, before dropping out in his junior year. In 1958, Harrison enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for almost 20 years. The Navy transferred him to San Diego, CA in 1967; after he was discharged, he and his wife became involved in the real estate business. Declining sales reportedly cost him a million dollars in the real estate market, so he uprooted his family again and relocated to Las Vegas, NV for a fresh start. In 1988, along with his son, Rick, he opened The World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, located less than two miles from the Las Vegas Strip. While he had virtually no experience in the pawnshop business, Harrison eventually gained all the skills necessary to grow his investment into a lucrative business. Harrison also enlisted the help of his grandson, Corey, to run the family business. In 2009, the family became overnight sensations after letting cameras into their store and starring on the hit reality series "Pawn Stars."
