Rupert Holmes
As a musician, Rupert Holmes's entertaining and creative music was in a variety of Hollywood productions. Holmes began his entertainment career with his music featured in films like the Henry de Silva action film "The Animals" (1971), the comedy "Forbidden Under the Censorship of the King" (1972) with Marshall Anker and the Russ Thacker drama "A.W.O.L." (1972). His music also appeared in "Memories Within Miss Aggie" (1973) and "Death Play" (1976). He was nominated for a BAFTA Award for "A Star Is Born" in 1976. . In the nineties, Holmes's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like the Jack Nicholson action movie "Mars Attacks!" (1996), the dramatic adaptation "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" (1998) with Angela Bassett and the John Travolta box office smash suspenseful adaptation "The General's Daughter" (1999). His work was also in the Giuseppe Andrews comedy "Detroit Rock City" (1999). Holmes's music was also featured in the James McAvoy blockbuster action picture "Wanted" (2008), the Adam Sandler blockbuster comedy "Grown Ups" (2010) and "Dinner for Schmucks" (2010). His music was also featured in "The Sitter" (2011) with Jonah Hill. Holmes's music was most recently used in the Chris Pratt smash hit action flick "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014).
