Sam Straley broke out in 2018 when he began appearing on the ABC comedy "The Kids Are Alright" (ABC, 2018- ). Born and raised in Cincinnati, Straley's love of acting began at a very young age. When he was still a boy his grandfather, the local professional film critic Roger Grooms, would take Straley to early screenings of the latest movie releases. In addition to falling in love with movies, Straley fell in love with the actors on screen. Straley decided early on that he wanted to spend the rest of his life doing what the actors on screen were doing, and thus, began devoting himself to the craft. He began appearing in plays in high school and after graduation attended the prestigious acting program at DePaul University in Chicago. It was during his time at DePaul that Straley began appearing in some of the most notable plays of all time, including "12 Angry Men" and Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice." After graduating from DePaul with a BFA Straley set out on becoming a professional film and television actor. He wrote and starred in the short film "Emily" in 2015, and also appeared in the short film "Cellar" in 2016. 2016 was also the year Straley nabbed his first TV acting role on "Chicago P.D." (NBC, 2014- ). In 2018 he also nabbed a guest spot on the science fiction series "Electric Dreams" (Amazon Studios, 2018- ).
