Sophie Guillemin

In 1998, Sophie Guillemin made her film debut in the steamy French drama "L'Ennui." Her work in the film--she played an erotically adventurous young woman who enters into a dangerous relationship with an older man--garnered widespread praise. Guillemin was nominated for a César Award (the French equivalent of an Oscar), and though she was just in her early 20s, some observers predicted that she would enjoy a long, productive screen career. Although she played a lead role in her first movie, Guillemin's follow-up came as a supporting player in the offbeat comedy "With a Friend Like Harry..."--and again she was nominated for a César Award. In the following years, the maturing Guillemin broadened her range and she proved herself comfortable in a variety of genres. She appeared opposite French superstar Audrey Tautou in the anxiety-inducing thriller "He Loves Me... He Loves Me Not," and she landed a key role in the family saga "Sisters." When not working in features, Guillemin busied herself with television roles and turned up in several ambitious short films. In 2010, she enjoyed another career milestone, sharing the screen with French film legend Gerard Depardieu in "My Afternoons with Margueritte." Guillemin also has begun to step behind the camera, writing and directing the short film "L'Essentiel Feminin."
