R&B singer and former actress Tinashe was in the public eye from an extremely young age, having worked as a child model and actress since she was just three years old. Her name translates to "we are with God" in the Shona language of Zimbabwe (her father is a Zimbabwean immigrant). Born Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe on February 6, 1993 in Lexington, Kentucky, she made her first film appearance in "Cora Unashamed" (2000_. In 2008-09 she was a regular on the hit show "Two and a Half Men" (CBS 2003-2015). She also did voice acting in a number of children's movies and shows. Her first major musical project came in 2007 when she became a founding member of the short-lived girl group The Stunners, who released an EP and several singles. Despite a promising start and a couple of minor hit singles, the group eventually sputtered out without making much of an impact, finally splitting up in 2011. Tinashe began working on her own songs in her home studio and released the mixtape album In Case We Die in 2012. It earned her a good deal of attention, and she soon had a record deal with RCA, though she released a second mixtape on her own before her RCA debut album, Aquarius, was finally unveiled in 2014. The record went to No. 17 on the Top 200 album charts, and spawned the Top 40 single "2 On," which featured an appearance by Schoolboy Q. In the run-up to Tinashe's follow-up album, Joyride, she released the 2016 mixtape Nightride.
