Actor and singer Titus Makin Jr. rose to fame on the popular teen series "Glee" (Fox, 2009-2015), but found more lasting success as a guest and series regular on more mature fare like "Pretty Little Liars" (ABC Family/Freeform, 2010-17) and "The Rookie" (ABC, 2018- ). Born Titus Odell Makin, Jr., on June 10, 1989 in Honolulu, Hawaii, he spent much of his childhood in transit due to his father's service with the military. After making his performing debut at the age of nine years as part of his grade school talent show, Makin began training for a career as an entertainer, taking voice and acting lessons in middle and high school, which led to roles in school productions and eventually, enrollment at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. In his first year there, he spent his free hours working as a acrobat and tumbler during half-time shows for the New York Knicks, and soon joined a co-ed dance troupe that performed at games for the WNBA's New York Liberty. Upon graduation from the Conservatory, Makin headed west to Los Angeles, where he began working as a dancer and actor in various youth-oriented projects, including "Victorious" (Nickelodeon, 2010-13). In 2010, he landed his breakout role on "Glee" as David, one of the Dalton Academy Warblers, an all-male chorus that was folded into the McKinley High School vocal group when their school burned to the ground. The exposure afforded by the show's meteoric popularity led to guest roles on other series, including "NCIS" (CBS, 2003- ), and live performances with his "Glee" castmates during the show's promotional tours. He also issued a solo EP, Singer Songwriter Soul, and a debut single, "Ropes," in 2014, but acting remained his primary showcase, most notably on the short-lived science fiction series "Star-Crossed" (The CW, 2014), as an undercover cop posing as a student on "Pretty Little Liars," and as a preacher's son living a double life on the Hulu series "The Path" (2015-18). He issued a second single, "Suicide," in 2018, the same year he joined the cast of ABC's comedy-drama "The Rookie," playing a newly minted cop alongside Nathan Fillion's middle-aged police aspirant.
