Especially, enjoy Chris Colfer and Darren Criss performances. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review andy h There's nothing inherently wrong with anything provided in this concert movie/documentary (besides it being a theatrical release); it's just a matter you wanna learn more about why people love(d) glee and see their jukebox performances or not. RIP Naya Rivera. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is the best movie I watched it like 4 times itï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)s like the old times Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member After months of watching seemingly nothing but CGI comic book adaptations, outdated superheros and overt sequels its time to break out, get free and embrace the inner-gleek. Needing little introduction after only 2 seasons, Glee the multi-generational TV phenomenon designed to inspire millions of teens to embrace their uniqueness and be proud of their individuality, hits the US concert trail as Glee Live! In Concert!. With such a wonderful outcry and following for the show and its wholesome messages, it was inevitable that a movie would shortly follow. With the show based on the stage and theatricality, why not a concert movie? Or one step further, a 3D concert movie? Limited to only a two week screening (similarly to that of Michael Jackson's This is it), rather than a direct shooting, viewers are privy to a peak behind the curtains. Producer and series co-creator Ryan Murphy with the assistance with Fame Director Kevin Tancharoen have spilced, diced and interwoven two seasons of storylines with only 14 members of the award-winning shows cast. Revisiting the shows greatest notes, fan favorite songs are reworked and interspersed between the series anthem Don't Stop Believing and politically acceptable versions of P!nks Raise your Glass and Lady Gaga's Born This Way. Lead by the usual suspects, Rachel (Lea Michele), Quinn (Dianna Agron) and Finn (Cory Monteith) continue the battle for love. Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) find each other. Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) share strengths. Brittany (Heather Morris), Artie (Kevin McHale) and Santana (Naya Rivera) fight the battles within. Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Sam (Chord Overstreet) share the spotlight and Puck (Mark Salling) becomes more than his bad boy image. Within 90 minutes the concert captures the dual-season shows complicated student stories without confusion as each performer gets to belt out their own characters iconic song. But missing from the line up are the teachers namely Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) who was promoting his new single and the sarcastic Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch). But luckily a cameo reprisal of Holly Holliday played by Gwyneth Paltrow makes up. What appears to be the sing-a-long equivalent to chicken soup for the soul train; is actually a masterfully crafted look passed the glamour and glitz of the TV touched up stars when the cameras turn onto the fans. Gleeks, freaks and underdogs of middle America get to shine for magic moment as youtube style real-life gleek moments steal the screen. From a Dalton Academy uniform clad toddler reprising heartthrob Warbler Blaine's (Darren Criss) famous Katy Perry's Teenage Dream sequence to an Asperger syndrome afflicted woman who cites meeting the shows Brittany (played by Heather Morris) as the best moment of her life. Filming of the highly anticipated third season due for airing (in the US September 20th) has began, and the lead up to the graduation and departure of a number of its originals sparks the need for new characters. The Verdict: Although a diabetic comma inducing amount of saccharin sentiment determined to bring the slogan t-shirt trend back in vogue, this is a heartfelt and genuinely positive pop offering. Riese Bernard Autostraddle If you enjoy Glee covers of terrible pop songs and occasional Broadway hits, cute choreography, fun costumes, and the character outlines of the characters from the television series, you will find yourself mildly entertained, as I did! Jun 11, 2021 Full Review Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: B+ Feb 18, 2012 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle Hardcore Gleeks will probably thrill at this 3-D concert film, but the more casual viewer, drawn to the Fox TV show's snarky and sweet storylines and its campy aesthetic, won't find much to chew on here. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 19, 2011 Full Review Peter Canavese Groucho Reviews An orgiastic celebration of Glee concocted by its own creators...sort of like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, but with more hot air.
