Yann Demange made it his mission to apply his unique vision to all sorts of cinematic endeavors. The Paris-born, London-raised filmmaker created live concert movies, commercials, television series, and feature films, showcasing his visual and storytelling talents. Yann Demange, French and Algerian by blood, was born in Paris, France in 1977, and moved to London, England at the age of two. He'd remain in the United Kingdom through his academic career, studying film at the London College of Printing-where he helmed his first short, "Joe" (2001), which played at festivals under the umbrella of the British Council-followed by the National Film and Television School. Upon his graduation from the latter in 2006, Yann leapt almost immediately to a life behind the camera. The filmmaker would release a collection of shorts in his early years out of school, including the documentary "Headspace" (2006), followed by narrative projects "Incomplete" (2006) and "Alan & Samir" (2007), interweaving commercial work all the while and beyond. It was in 2007 that he began to find steady work on the small screen, starting out helming four consecutive episodes of the British TV series "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" (ITV2 2007-2011). Demange would earn especial acclaim for his comic touch on the short made-for-TV project "A Man in a Box" (Channel 4 2007). The five years to follow would see Demange's relationship with TV work maintain, including work on series like the zombie dramedy "Dead Set" (E4 2008), "Criminal Justice" (BBC One 2008-09), and, most prominently, the drama "Top Boy" (Channel 4 2011-13), on the second season of which Demange earned his first executive producer title. Demange's first feature film, "'71" (2014), featured rising star Jack O'Connell in a story about the sociopolitical unrest of Northern Ireland in the late 1960s and early '70s, known colloquially as "the Troubles." The director's debut feature premiered at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival to critical acclaim.
