Dancer and performance artist turned actress Yasmin Al Massri enjoyed critical praise for her performances in international films like "Caramel" (2007) before finding success in the United States on "Quantico" (ABC, 2015- ). Born November 21, 1971 in Lebanon, Al Massri was the daughter of Palestinian and Egyptian parents. Her initial passion was dance, which she explored as a member of Thouraya Baghdadi's acclaimed company in Paris. Her training there, and at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, helped her develop a style of dance that combined Arab, African and Latin schools of dance, which she captured in experimental videos like "Boum Tac" (2006). The following year, Al Massri made her screen acting debut in the Lebanese comedy-drama "Caramel" (2007), which explored the emotional lives of five women living in Beirut. The film was a hit on the international circuit and led to other film roles, including Julian Schnabel's drama "Miral" (2010) and "The Last Friday" (2011). Al Massri made her American television debut in the short-lived pirate drama series "Crossbones" (NBC, 2014-). The following year, she was cast in the action-drama "Quantico," playing conservative Muslim twins who pretend to be a single individual while training to be FBI agents.
