Blake Edwards' bawdy comedy may not score a perfect 10, but Dudley Moore's self-deprecating performance makes this midlife crisis persistently funny.

gsm g As a movie, I saw as a kid I don't remember much about it other than I kept waiting on this viewing for Bo Derek to appear and be part of the movie. I didn't remember how much nudity there was in it surprisingly also I did not really watch this movie more so this time i kept clicking the fast forwarded icon as i could tell the scenes were boring also surprised by the ending mind you it was 45 years ago on hbo at uncles house . Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Donald S This movie i think will hold up for a more hyper sexualized culture who is just trying to figure how to handle the stress of aging properly. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/02/23 Full Review dave s For those old enough to remember 1978, do you recall standing in longer than normal lines to get tickets for Blake Edwards' 10, only to be disappointed that all shows were sold-out? Looking back 45 years later after having seen the movie again, do you wonder what all of the hoopla was about? To say that 10 hasn't aged particularly well would be a gross understatement. Filled with juvenile humor, more pratfalls than you can imagine (please just climb the friggin' hill, Dudley!!), scenes that run far too long (the debate over the definition of ‘broad' is actually painful to watch), and an icky story from another era (would the young, beautiful bride really be interested in having sex with a drunken, dwarf-like middle-aged stalker?), you really have to wonder what the point of it all is, because the points don't seem to have anything to do with comedy or romance. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member LOL, the funniest 02 hours: and 02 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is very funny and among Blake Edwards' best films. The biggest misconception about this movie is that it stars Bo Derek. Bo is stunningly beautiful and essential to the movie, however, she is a vehicle and not the star. This is Dudley Moore at his finest. You see the seeds for Moore's Arthur character in this movie, but he is much more cerebral here. This movie is ahead of its time as it looks at a man's mid life crisis and search for love as he tries to balance his safe relationship with Julie Andrews and his desire for sexual excitement. There are some very funny moments and Moore is comedically brilliant and very poignant in this role. The music and clothes are dated, but the story is not. The sexual boundaries of the day are pushed here and proposed to Andrews for her bold decisions in this one. Cornrolls and Bolera became household necessities as a result of the impact of this one. This movie made Derek an icon, but this film is much more. See it! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Ten isn't even a five. Gary Arnold Washington Post A sporadically funny, marginally interesting fiasco that might have evolved into a memorable romantic comedy. Sep 26, 2005 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Blake Edwards's 10 is perhaps the first comedy about terminal yearning. Like all great comedies, it deals with emotions very close to our hearts. Rated: 4/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com 'It's probably the writer/director's best film outside of the Pink Panther movies, and the portrait of the artist as a dirty aging man is one that still resonates today.' Rated: 4/5 Apr 4, 2021 Full Review Sean Collier Box Office Prophets It has some gags - some are even quite funny - but not nearly enough. Rated: 6/10 Sep 14, 2020 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins A fascinating character study, bittersweet and insightful yet full of tremendous laughs. Rated: 8/10 Aug 27, 2020 Full Review Peter Canavese Groucho Reviews 10's tossed-off quality keeps it from greatness, but it also distinguishes it from the great mass of contemporary comedies smoothed to a shiny, edgeless formula.
