Roger H The acting by the stars was somehow overblown and, at the same time, wooden. The script was ridiculous, and the plot absurd. There is no attempt whatsoever to convince the viewer that two of the characters were actually falling in love. There may have been a few frames where Jeff Hunter is not scowling, and Dana Andrews' role is badly over-written. Yet ... I found myself wanting to keep watching just to see what was going to happen. Good for laughs, I've gotta say, but not much else. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review nick s A good quality of production. It was one of those story lines that didn't have too many places to go. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/24/24 Full Review Audience Member Overblown, melodramatic would-be suspense film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A 1940's noir made in 1965 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member A fun movie. well directed and fact paced with some superb performances from Viveca Lindfors, Dana Andrews, Anne Francis and a absolutely stellar performance from Jeffrey Hunter. Definitely a must see and is one of my personal favorites. The twists and turns in this movie really make you wonder...was he crazy from the get go or not? Worth a watch for psychological thriller fans and fans of Jeffrey Hunter. Certainly one of his best roles IMHO. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A great late period Film Noir (post-Noir?) from the mid sixties. At first Jeffrey Hunter was a total stiff as the male lead but he perked up a little when he started to feign insanity. My only previous experience with him was when he played the original Captain of the Enterprise in the Star Trek pilot, wherein he was also very stiff but here was pretty good. The photography was nice although I must say the plot lacked nuance. For a supposed B-movie this was surprisingly well made. And Anne Francis was really hot.
