Rob Humanick Slant Magazine The deliberate narration feels at stylistic odds with the socially visceral imagery, but this artistic juxtaposition lends its portrayed events an appropriately mythic tinge. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 4, 2007 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz New York Times Orange Winter is more than a mere history lesson. [This] movie characterizes a body politic as a living thing, and charts its internal changes as if it were the protagonist in a drama. Rated: 4.5/5 May 24, 2007 Full Review Joe Leydon Variety A workmanlike piece of efficient reportage. May 24, 2007 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide [Doc's] failure to systematically lay clear, linear historical groundwork for the events of late 2004 and 2005 is obviously deliberate, but without it the film is unenlightening to anyone not already conversant with the history of modern Ukraine. Rated: 2/4 May 25, 2007 Full Review Frank Lovece Film Journal International Gives us little more than vacation footage coupled with an eighth-grade history report. Audience Member I love Ukraine, and this is such an interesting story. It was more a collection of facts, seemed to be much less investigation as other documentaries. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member An amazing Documentary about the inspiring 2004 Orange Revolution in Ukraine. It shows what happens when a people rise against a corrupt government. It shows how the Ukrainian people throw out a crooked election and a real revolution happened. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/28/23 Full Review Audience Member A simple documentary about the street protests in Kiev during Ukraine's Orange Revolution in late 2004, it strives in showing footage that did not make it to CNN. The narration is a bit underwhelming in that it fails to effectively brace the wealth of footage and intercutting of different scenes of a parallel soviet film and an opera. Overall the film is well shot and well written, but the narration is a definite weakness. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
