Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter The obviously improvised proceedings -- at least let's hope they're improvised -- fail to produce the desired laughs, with frequent pauses after punch lines that will only result in lengthy silences. Sep 25, 2007 Full Review John Anderson Variety A sometimes laugh-out-loud send-up of homebuyers' worst instincts, the extreme behavior of real-estate agents and what happens when the certifiably insane save enough for a down payment. Sep 5, 2007 Full Review Lael Loewenstein Los Angeles Times A spoof, sometimes a funny one, and sometimes just plain overkill. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 30, 2007 Full Review Martin Tsai New York Sun “Closing Escrow” very quickly exhausts the repertoire of antics of these buyers and realtors, most of which are more cringe-worthy than funny. Apr 21, 2023 Full Review Andy Klein Los Angeles CityBeat ... more or less in the Christopher Guest vein, but with nowhere near as many laughs. Sep 12, 2007 Full Review Scott Weinberg Cinematical Escrow isn't as polished or consistent as the best of its sub-genre -- but it's pretty dang funny for the most part. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 31, 2007 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This movie is the best movie I've seen in years. It is a real riveting thriller. I was stuck to my seat. If you like realestate, drama, action, and comedy, this movie is for you! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Very true to life, funny, view of real people! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/15/19 Full Review Audience Member Best in Show version of real estate. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty funny film. My brother made me watch it one night and fully enjoyed it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Sometimes laugh out loud funny documentary that runs out of steam about half the way through. Wendi McLendon-Covey is hilarious as the racist real estate agent from hell though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Funnier than I expected, but I was expecting an unmitigated disaster. Wendy McLendon-Covey, as you might have guessed, is fantastic, but the news is that she is more fantastic than you might have guessed she would be. She's not that far off from Clemmy Johnson, but then, she doesn't need to be, because Clemmy Johnson is fabulous. In any improv-mockumentary, you're going to have actors who take their characters' quirks too far; fortunately, this only happens very rarely here. On the downside, many of them are merely amusing rather than truly funny. I found myself waiting impatiently for McLendon-Covey's next appearance.
