Audience Member This is a great movie ... it's more of a real life story ... if you've had a difunctional family and or Irish catholic ... you'll get it ... I loved this movie the first time I saw it .... I have no clue why the crap reviews ? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this movie. Sad and you have to be in the right mood to watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Typical Family Drama...very dull nothing special here. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member With beautifully captioned moments in the film, there are just too many depressing scenes that weigh down the movie from even having close to a happy ending. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Good story and some good performances help elevate this beyond its meager budget and director's obvious newness to the craft. It doesn't always work and the story sometimes takes downright silly turns, but it's a fine enough portrait of a Boston family you feel is probably quite common in certain southern areas of the city, even today. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A Good story with a strong message and great performances by the whole cast. Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter While the film has many well-observed moments...it ultimately suffers from its relentless piling on of crises. Dec 3, 2007 Full Review Los Angeles Times Black Irish boasts many memorable scenes and fine characterizations but ultimately plays more like a series of snapshots come to life than as an organically satisfying story. Rated: 3/5 Oct 26, 2007 Full Review Ty Burr Boston Globe A small-bore Southie coming-of-age drama whose heart is just a bit bigger than its cliches. Oct 30, 2007 Full Review Geoff Berkshire Metromix.com It'll be worth watching to see if [director Brad Gann] plays to his strengths on future projects.
